Life Lessons From Horses

over the summer I had so many incredible oppertunities to work with some different horses! every horse I ever come in contact with has taught me something. I just want to share what iv learned from each of these fantastic horses!

Coors -   was enjoyable, and easy to train, but still had so many quirks!
while training him I often thought about the fact that not all lessons in life have come the hard way,
if we apply our heart to learning, we can have a clean slate to learn, and apply what we've learned!

Harley - having a difficult past describes the background of many people, and horses;
such is the case with harley. the thing is, pain is hard to be forgotten. The past flashes before us and keeps us from progressing. we may all have scars like harley does, some physically, some deeper than the flesh - But God see's pain he sees our tears, and he is gently proding us foward, teaching us to trust him, and find security in His arms. I could never push harley foward like most horses, taking this slow was essential to building her confidince, and trust - and God is the same with us! He doesnt push us, or make us go through something that is to hard for us to bear!

Noble - Ever heard the phrase "dont judge a book by a cover"?
well in horse lingo it would be "dont judge a breed from a select few" after working with a few morgans I had stamped my dislike of the breed upon all! but Noble was different! foundation can be everything because what you build on makes all the difference! taking the time to establish trust, respect, and willingness is key for the rest of life. (for a human or equine!)

Skittles - I thought maybe I had already learned patience from the training of a horse.
But I guess somehow skittles found a few splotches in my character that was seirously lacking patience! not only have I been re-learning patience, but also the importance of being consistant, and making the most out of any situation - just never give up!

Bonnie - I saved bonnie till last, because Iv learned the most from her! I dont think I have ever had a more difficult time with a horse, and learned so many different lessons in life.
** I learned that "Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway" and that is tough. It was hard to go out and work with an unperdictable "bomb" and iv never wanted to quite on a horse as badly has I felt like quitting on bonnie. but does God ever quite on us?

** I also learned a lot about God. I wish I could paint the picture of my self standing in the middle of the round pen, with a little brown mustang running endless circles around me. there was 1 thing that I wanted from bonnie, and that was her love. But love is something that cant be forced, or straped on. its a choice to make. as Bonnie chose to flee from me I stood in the middle of the round pen and cried. I was hurt, I was frustrated, in that instant I could see my self as the one running... running away from God who simply wanted me to love him.  --- most people think Christianity is a religion of do's and dont's, but its not. Christianity is about a relationship with God built on love.
When we love God we will want to obey him, and serve him,
not because we are forced to, but because we WANT to.

Matthew 22:36-38 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.

I really think Bonnie did more human training, than I did horse training!

Thank You Veterans!

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

THANK YOU - to every soldier who fought for independance, who fought for Liberty,
Im so blessed to to live in the land of the free, at the expence of the soldiers who gave their all.

catch up, life, pictures!

life has a way of spinning ahead of my days, leaving me in a daze. I look at the calender and wonder at how in the world it could be almost NOVEMBER! what happened to my august, and september.... and october! theres a song that says
 "I love this crazy, tragic,
Sometimes almost magic,
Awful, beautful life "

that pretty much sums it up! - so im going to try to re-enter blogger land. God always puts so much on my heart, and I want to be sharing it with yall! but right now im going to do a quick snyopsis (btw thats one of my intelligent sounding words that makes me feel intelligent when I use it!) ... any - where was I?? oh yes. I'm going to give you a snyopsis of some of the amazing things that have happened this past few months! (mainly pictures of times with friends!) so enjoy.

I love remembering good times! *my dear sweet friend* (<*said with a nice southern accent) sharon flew from the land of far far way to visit me! it was so much fun to spend time together! a few highlights include crying out eyes out while making salsa (the onions had an effect on us), we also went horse back riding, had a movie night, spent time with church family, went thrift store shopping, and much more! - memories forever!!! love you sharon!!!

♥ Kelsi & I ♥ (I love that girl!)

even though I dont have a pict of us together :( I have enjoyed spending so much time over the summer with patey and her horse fleeter!!! spending time with friends with horses equals intense happyness!

-
then most recently - time with Bekah!

the major hightlights of time with Bekah would be laughing, crying, photoshoots, riding, training, and racing horses, working cows, treating wounds, shopping, looking through western magazines, doing devotions together, praying, long long long talks, making big huge pancakes and so much more! ... we can really pack a bunch into 2 days!

so basically I love love love spending time with friends! God has been so good to bless my life with them, and I love the pictures, and the memories and special times! so I didnt want to not post them!

HAPPY!

first thing in the morning i walk out to do chores and I hear the hungry nickers of my horses saying
 "more hay! please more hay"

I laugh to my self as I  take another load of hay into the pen. after filling up the hay barrels untill they are over flowing, I stop to watch my horses chow down. Half closing they're eyes in bliss, they much on the sweet grass! I closed my eyes and thought about how happy I feel, when I make my make my horses happy!

Then God said "Now you see how happy it makes me - to make you happy"

Lord, thank you for showing me how you delight in blessing my life!

LIVE

"And that he died for all,
that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves,
but unto him wich died for them
 and rose again."
2Corinthians 5:15

SO... HOW are you living?

WHO are you living FOR???

are you living for YOURSELF?

or are you living for JESUS

do you live your day doing "good" things?
or do you strive to do the most EXCELLENT things?
